Margaret Kilgallen

i feel so sad that i never got to see her retrospective "in the sweet by and bye"
at redcat in LA back in 2005 - i made trips to LA that year but sadly not when the show was happening.
i have the book (the first edition of the pink cover!) from the show,
which is quite a consolation.

more works in the flickr pool here.

Sketchbook - last pages of the book

finished my sketchbook (right) today and started a new one!

i've been near-obsessively drawing in my sketchbook
whenever i get a chance, and it's becoming more of a journal-like
brain-purge of a book now...

so i'm a little more nervous & hesitant to share,
though i decided to be braver.

please handle (eye) these with care, if you will,
as my heart is worn upon my sleeve as i share these :

Andrea Myers

beautiful, colorful, layered fabric sculpture by andrea myers.

+ i had a dream several days ago that i'd made a gigantic fabric/sewn sculpture
to hang from the ceiling.
i'd been thinking/talking about making sculpture for a couple years,
(and the painted wood figures last year were a start of it),
but i never thought of fabric sculpture until i dreamt it - and now seeing this too.
the tactility i felt in my dream really made me curious & excited about it.

i haven't sewn a large thing like that since my senior thesis for industrial design
(i sewed a huge modular furniture piece), and it'll be a giant undertaking and planning,
but i'm hoping to make it happen for next year's show, if not this years!

Molly Bosley

more paper love! ♥
amazing & intriguing paper cut 3D dioramas by molly bosley.

i love the atmosphere of eeriness and mystery that she creates
making the viewer peek into something very secretive and fragile.

{via my love for you is a stampede of horses}

sketchbook dump 2

some more sketchbook pages i've been filling since my last sketch post.

i've been addicted to filling my sketchbook lately.
just as well, since one of my goals this year was
to draw every day in my sketchbooks to experiment
& loosen up as much as possible.

ballpoint & brush pen.

i feel like i'm starting to loosen up a bit.
can't wait to go craazzzzy!

+ these (and the last ones) are from my leuchtturm sketchbook,
i'll post a few new pages from my moleskine (more paint laden) soon.

sketchy doodly

a big photodump of recent sketchbook pages.
i've been making an effort to draw something everyday.
this small sketchbook has been so easy and pressure-less to fill
with quick gestural doodles :
