Instagrammed Processes

i've been a complete studio hermit lately, working on a couple shows coming up in the next months :
an exciting Twin Peaks 20th Anniversary Show in a couple weeks,
and a dual solo show in London for March!

although many these have been updated through my twitter/facebook,
i thought i'd compile them to show what's been going on in my studio
for the past month :

Sarah Silverman

this friday, January 7th, Gallery 1988 will have a huge art opening
of a comedian-themed group show, "Is This Thing On?"
Is This Thing On?
at Gallery 1988

Los Angeles, CA 90038

please contact the gallery for inquiry/purchase/preview.

Finished.

several months ago, i was asked by Gallery 1988 to paint Sarah Silverman, the comedienne.
i hesitated for a while, because i'd never painted a portrait before
of a real-life personality (only movie characters with my added imagination).
but i thought it'd be a fun challenge, despite being nervous that sarah
will be seeing this herself at the show - but it really turned out to be fun.

above is a detail shot through my instagram filter,
which sadly looks better and isn't available in the real physical world
for me to put over the painting.

below some other shots through instagram (mind the filter)
during the progress over the holidays :
