another massively backlogged entry here - my one big show for the year was back in May, Daydreamers, at Compound Gallery in Portland, OR - a 2-person show alongside the sweetest new artist, Suite Charlie.
i created a lot of smaller, fun artworks that are different than my usual larger-ish paintings for many reasons, for this show, but mostly because i knew/remembered that the gallery is on the smaller side.
but i feel that i ended up creating way more than i thought i needed to (slight drama leading up to the show : the initial artist dropped out a month before the show so i thought i had to fill out the gallery).
installation view : my Nantarka series wall to the left, and Suite Charlie's wall to the right.
below are my pieces for the show - and most of these pieces will be available soon via my shop!
(although you may email me before i post them, if you see something you like).

this show was one of the roughest shows to pull off, mentally, perhaps.
although everything is small in this show it wasn't the easiest show to work on as far as non-art matters went. the initial artist the curator at the gallery had set for the show dropped out at the last minute, then i was asked to find another artist for them or do a solo there, to my horror... which is why i ended up overdoing the number of pieces, thinking i had to fill out the walls (never a good reason).
but in the end, i did do a lot of fun works that were small and more experimental (like the last few watercolors up there), and i had a lot of fun being in portland and meeting lots of cool people - especially suite charlie, who i knew from instagram, turning out to be such a genuinely sweet, talented young artist, making it all better and worthwhile! still i have mixed feelings about this show after all these months have passed - ah well!
i'm probably going to be creating maybe one more new work from here on out this year... although there are still some more shows left in the year for me - mostly because of this little big news... :)
