Finished.

several months ago, i was asked by Gallery 1988 to paint Sarah Silverman, the comedienne.
i hesitated for a while, because i'd never painted a portrait before
of a real-life personality (only movie characters with my added imagination).
but i thought it'd be a fun challenge, despite being nervous that sarah
will be seeing this herself at the show - but it really turned out to be fun.

above is a detail shot through my instagram filter,
which sadly looks better and isn't available in the real physical world
for me to put over the painting.

below some other shots through instagram (mind the filter)
during the progress over the holidays :

(2 initial concepts)

(after sanding out/redoing the faces a few times)

i read that tara mcpherson also did sarah silverman,
i can't wait to see her piece - and tina fey by travis louie!

I thought this painting looked a little more realistic when you first started posting images.

The end result is very nice, I do see the similarities but I will say, your painting is far more attractive than the lady herself.(Sorry,I'm not a fan of Sarah Silverman).
