belated sketchbook pages
i meant to post these a couple weeks ago, but my hands were dirty with clay.
while waiting for my 3d pieces to dry,
i did some sketches, paintings, and drawings in the 2d world as well.
i've reached to about half of my leuchtturm sketchbook #2 now,
and here are some of the pages from 2/16-3/29 :
ballpoint pen, markers, brush pen & pastel in leuchtturm sketchbook. ©2010.
more pages here, here, here & here.

Truly beautiful. I'd love to hear about your process and when/why you decide to overlay a new face in a different color. Is it for texture, to save space, to refine and perfect/right a mistake?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I adore seeing your sketches!
waaaahh~!! i love seeing these. it excites me. :)
ReplyDeleteis that sriracha i see? :)
ReplyDeletei love your still lifes and hints of pink, red and blue you've added in there <3
ReplyDeletemakes me wanna sketch more!
ahhh thank you so much!!
ReplyDelete@kendralyris i don't really think much when i'm sketching, it's more of a stream of (sub)consciousness thing.
if i actually stopped and thought about it, i guess multiple faces just show different thoughts/personalities/minds we have inside...
or something in that line if that makes sense.
@stella :: Perfect sense! It reads, at times, like that split-second change in emotion that can show on someone's face. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice site...very interesting. your works are awesome. keep it up! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour sketches are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe montage of faces are so wonderful... I"m with jaw agape. You've inspired me to start being better about using my moleskines more often... I need it to be attached to me. May I ask what inks you use? I am impressed by the lack of smearing particularly with the beautiful use of red over black!
ReplyDeletegreat work, thanks for posting your moleskin, love seeing artists raw thots.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for your kind thoughts.
ReplyDelete@sMacThoughts : the red/pink markers do make the black ink bleed a bit, just not too much. this is a leuchtturm sketchbook, not moleskine, so it absorbs the ink more which helps.
the black part is either a pentel brush pen or just a ball point (that won't bleed).
thank you so much!!
Stella, these look amazing! You seem to be getting much looser in this book than previously. I love it! :) Your sketches are like "last night dreams" or something. Very inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteWow. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful images! I've always loved taking a peek at artist's sketchbooks :)
ReplyDeletetotally not intended as an insult, but I love your drawings 121287198729817221 times more than your paintings.
ReplyDelete@ Alessandro haha no insult taken, rather, thank you!!! i prefer my sketches too and usually aim to get there some day with my paintings. ^__^
